JOB SUMMARY: Independently performs various duties of cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, offices, hallways, and equipment to ensure a safe environment and reduce risks of spread of infection for patients, visitors, and staff. JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.) Clean furniture, woodwork, equipment, and dust mop floors. Polishes and cleans fixtures in utility rooms and bathrooms. Operates mechanical floor cleaners, polishers, and vacuums Wet mop rooms, halls, stairways, and public areas. Shampoo rugs and furniture. Cleans fixtures, tops or windows, door frames, and high areas using a ladder. Gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials. Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required. Could be asked to set up chairs and tables, etc. for special events and fold and store them after the event. Assists in hanging drapes and dividers and takes them down for cleaning. Removes waste and soiled linens from the work area and places in specified bags or containers. Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares rooms for new occupant; follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms. Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls of bathrooms. Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings. Attends meetings as required JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Relevant previous experience not required, on-the-job training is provided. Education: High School or equivalent preferred.
